Benefits of Carrots

first off carrots are usually orange but Did you know that they can be? Yellow red white or purple carrot native to Europe and southwestern Asia but of course it's been domesticated across the world.these tasty tap roots have been kicking around for thousands of years.

so I'm going to cover some of the nutritional aspects and health benefits of incorporating carrots into your diet carrots are part of the Apiaceae family you can find plenty of poly asset eileen's and carrots the carrot gets its characteristic orange color from beta-carotine let's talk vitamin A this is a big part of carrots a 100 gram serving of carrots provides over 100 percent of your It is high in vitamin A. case is in the form of beta-carotine just as a quick refresher vitamin A serves multiple functions including facilitating general growth supplementing the retina within the eye and helps with the growth of epithelial cells,

now carrots also provide a good When part of vitamin B6 and vitamin K. it comes to the preparation of carrots you'll get more beta-carotene by cooking and pulping carrots or you could go for boiling steaming or frying carrots similarly now carrots can be stored for quite some time whether in the refrigerator or say over winter and some cool moist places.

so before you go carrot crazy keep in mind the vitamin A One is a fat-soluble vitamin so you don't.You want to eat a lot of it. definitely don't need to have it every day although you'd have to eat a lot of carrots to overdose on vitamin A on top of that carrots do have a fair bit of natural sugar so if you're throwing them into every stir fry you make then you might want to shake things up with different vegetables.

so that's carrots how do you do them are you a fan personally I'm a big fan of stir-frying although like I said I try not to do it too often so add your voice in the Comment and let us know what works.you thanks for reading we'll see you next time.

Benefits of Bok Choy

I'm talking about Bok Choy which may also be known as bok Choy it's a type of Chinese cabbage that has been ranked as being very nutrient dense so it's definitely something we want to look into let's start with a bit of.

background Chinese cabbage is a bit of a vague name so we'll call it bok choy from here on in bok choy translates from Cantonese mean white vegetable but there are also several other variations of spelling and pronunciation like I said we'll stick with bok choy,

let's do a quick run-through a bok choy and nutrition you're getting about one gram of fiber per 100 gram serving that's not a ton compared to other vegetables and legumes there's 1.5 grams of protein which again isn't totally surprising for a vegetable when it comes to vitamin though well you might want to sit down you're getting About 30% of your vitamin A and over 50 percent of your vitamin C per serving that's a great mix of two important vitamins vitamin C being water-soluble and vitamin A being fat soluble on top of that you're getting a good dose of minerals as well,

calcium clocking in around eleven percent iron at six percent and magnesium at five percent now let's talk a little word of warning on bok choy before you get too excited this veggie contains something called glucose I know aids it's a natural component of many plants like cabbage or broccoli,

it's a chemical that sort of contributes to a plant's defense against pests or disease and whatnot when it comes to human consumption high levels of intake of glucosinolates can actually have toxic effects but at low levels plants with glucose I know lights are pretty safe you only want to be careful on how much you're in taking.

on the other hand there's actually been research that proposes that glucose I know lights may have potential to fight off cancer especially with vegetables like broccoli But keep in mind that research is on going.preliminary stages and when it comes to glucose I know lights definitely don't want to be over consuming it as for preparing bok choy I usually end up tossing it in a stir-fry I love stir-fry,

I can't deny it and bok choy is just another great ingredient to toss it make sure you rinse and drain it well cut across the leaves and toss slices of the stalks into your pan try and keep the center of the bok choy intact if you cut stem that's the best part oh and throw in some ginger can't go wrong all right that's bok choy you should let.

Benefits of Broccoli!

got broccoli at the top of my shopping list so let me tell you why well broccoli isn't always a fan favorite especially among kids but you You may need to eat your own vegetables. some convincing so let's run through some of what makes broccoli so great here's a hint it's good for you but maybe you already knew I was going to get to that for now let's start by talking a little about the history of broccoli.

this tasty little trees from the cabbage family and originated in Italy some 2,000 years ago broccoli didn't really start making the rounds to other countries until the past few hundred years maybe you didn't know that there are actually three common types of broccoli the most popular is Calabrese broccoli then there is sprouting broccoli and purple cauliflower which despite the name is indeed a type of broccoli sold mostly in Europe so broccoli is actually quite good for you,

you can eat it raw or cooked you'll be getting plenty of vitamin C and dietary fiber one serving is going to get you over 100 percent of your daily required vitamin C and over two grams of fiber that's for only 100 grams of broccoli you're also going to get lots of vitamin K which is a fat soluble vitamin but let's talk about broccoli and longer term health benefits several of the nutrients in broccoli have purported anti-cancer properties including dye Angela methane and selenium not only that but antiviral and antibacterial characteristics are found in broccoli,

you're also going to be getting a chemical called indole-3-carbinol which boosts DNA repair and supposedly helps to block the growth of cancer cells when it comes to preparing broccoli you should know that boiling it can reduce some of the nutritional health benefits the longer you boil your broccoli the more nutrients it will lose in most cases opting for steaming or stir-fry your broccoli will provide a more nutrient rich vegetable experience so that's broccoli this stuff is great but what do you think add your voice in the comments and let us know don't
