SUGAR isn't LOVE: It’s why we're all getting SICK through mitochondrial dysfunction,Anything related to mitochondrial dysfunction can cause to chronic metabolic disease. There are many substrates that contribute to sickness, but it’s sugar that is cheap, addictive, and ubiquitous. healthier life day, goal is to educate people about the harmful effects of sugar so that sugar consumption becomes less socially acceptable.
i am not fructocentric okay some people think that's all i worry about what i am is mitochondrio centric anything that causes mitochondrial dysfunction will lead to chronic metabolic disease and it turns out there are four substrates in our food supply all of which damage the mitochondria all of which generate chronic metabolic disease,
there's fructose which is the cheap one but there are the other three also branched chain amino acids leucine isoleucine and valine which are essential amino acids they're 20 of muscle but again if you overwhelm your liver your liver turns those into fat and generate fatty liver and insulin resistance and mitochondrial dysfunction too trans fats and they cause mitochondrial dysfunction and finally alcohol what do these four substrates have in common,
one there's no insulin rise they don't generate an insulin response number two they all are metabolized by the liver and not anywhere else therefore they overwhelm the liver and number three they poison mitochondria of those four sugar is the cheap one sugar is the addictive one although alcohol is two but sugar's the one we give to children and call it love but you know what i'd rather have alcohol because you can only drink yourself under the table once a day but for soft drinks sugar in the morning sugar and evening sugar at supper time sugar should be a condiment,
you know you don't live on turmeric sugars become a dietary staple up to 20 percent of calories are sugar it should be more like about five percent of calories i mean we're eating quadruple what we should be eating and so people have to understand what's going on and why everyone's getting sick sugar inhibits atp generation therefore it's making your cells sick because your cells need That ATP to do its job,
we have a limited capacity to metabolize it it is not just calories it overwhelms our mitochondria it inhibits mitochondrial function if you blow it up in a bomb calorimeter it's energy but if you try to burn it in a mitochondria it actually is poison actually inhibits energy formation and that's the reason why the whole concept of calories is useless my job is to kill the calorie as a unit of,
measurement okay it never made sense it is what's wrong sugar is the Exact example of how it's wrong we're not supposed to eat this much but the food industry has realized Sugar cells and they make a lot.money on it when all of the items in the supermarket aisles have added sugar in them you actually don't have a choice because everything has it.
what we need is a policy based in biology and it's got a name it's called real food so one of the reasons why processed food is cheap and one of the reasons real food is expensive is because of food subsidies that's what the processed food industry uses because it's the cheapest available and then of course sugar is addictive so that ratchets up their profits like crazy but if you took the sugar subsidy away then it wouldn't be all of a sudden as cheap for them to do it and therefore wouldn't be as profitable for them to do it what would Be with,
the price of food if we meet rid of all food subsidies only two things in the grocery store will go up everything else would stay the same the two things that go up corn and sugar the things we want to go up the way to think about sugar and the way to think about alcohol is basically within the addiction model so if you're exposed to nicotine for five days are you an addict maybe maybe not about 50 if you're exposed to alcohol for five days are you an addict about 20 if you're exposed to sugar for five days are you an addict about 20 not everybody's going to get addicted,
but if you're in that group and it's easy to tell if you're sugar addicted because all you have to do is see the words coming out of your mouth oh i have a horrible sweet tooth that's sugar addiction until proven otherwise the point that you can even say that in public is because it's socially acceptable the point is sugar is one legal to love i put that in quotes and three are socially acceptable at this point in time the goal is to educate the public about the dangers of sugar so that it will become less socially acceptable
